– 129 F

that’ll make ya sit up straight…today we have a temperature in Minnesota of -20…I was wondering what the coldest temperature ever recorded was… and I found that in Vostok Antartica on July 21 1983 the temperature of -129 F was recorded. It seems the coldest temperature possible artificially is -272.15 C – which is less than 1 degree above ‘absolute zero’ a temperature we cannot achieve (apparently). At this temperature helium liquefies. I find the study of cold somewhat interesting (cryogenics) – and largely unexplored like much of creation. So however cold it gets right now in MN – just remember – on the big scale – it really isn’t that cold outside. And – buckle up the kiddies – it’s probably going to be ch-ch-chilly for a while.
