had an interesting discussion today…

with a group at a local church…the topic was ‘the shack’ – a book creating many waves in and out of the church. Although the views were varied and thoughtful – I am concerned how much fiction (as clearly this book is) can be approached as fact / truth. I think some of the questions we need to ask ourselves when experiencing books, movies and art is ‘ what is this doing to me’…? Is this edifying? Is this helping me in my walk with God? After all – good art is not what it is – but rather – what it does.
