psalm 147:15-18
He sends His command to the earth; His word runs swiftly
He spreads the snow like wool and scatters the frost like ash
He hurls down the hail like pebbles.
Who can withstand His icy blast?
He sends His word and melts them;
He stirs up his breezes and the waters flow
as I look out on this cold morning, with the pale sky, and the leafless trees I am struck with the severity of winter, and the comfort of Gods love. I am also struck with the severity of Gods love in that He would that we see things clearly. Often in the bible snow is used as an example of how God will wash us, our stain of sin, whiter than snow. It is said that those things that are best – are offered in most abundance. I would like to see the white blankets of snow, and its beauty and variety, and be reminded of Gods forgiveness and overwhelming assurance in recreating me through Christ, and His offering on the cross. The snow being spread like wool – is very much a blanket, and I find myself consoled this day in Gods comfort.
